CONCEPTUAL STORYTELLING ASSIGNMENT 3 and 4
Joe and Mary are in the bedroom of their cabin aboard a ship
in the harbor of San Francisco. The ship will be leaving for
South America in a few minutes.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
Mary hugs Joe
MARY
Joe.. Joe
JOE
You don't have to say it. We're
kind of making a fresh start
MARY
Do you really want to?
JOE
Sure. Sure I do. We've got to do it
right. We'll do the whole thing
right
Joe walks over to the open doorway and looks out at the bay.
JOE
(Talking to Mary while
looking out of the door)
The lights of Frisco. They'll be
fogging out in a minute.
Joe turns out the lights in the bedroom
JOE CONTINUED
You know, I've been doing a lot of
thinking lately. Don't laugh. Five
or ten minutes and we'll be pulling
out for a new country leaving
everything behind. Maybe we can
make a different life for ourselves
in South America. A good life. From
what I hear I've haven't been there
myself but a friend of mine told me
it's a good place. We might be able
to get a little ranch or a business
or something. Start fresh - decent.
Have a house. Kids maybe. Bring
them up right. Scrub em all up and
end them off to school.
The sound of the ships engines starting is heard
JOE CONTINUED
There's the engines. We ought to e
shoving off in five or ten minutes.
You know with everything we have on
the ball we ought to make something
good for ourselves - decent. Where
no one's afraid of the daylight.
MARY V/0
Why doesn't he stop talking. When
the clock stopped moving he was
saying everything I've ever wanted
to hear. All my life - the lyrics
were alright but the music was
Ann's. Ann's. Suddenly I realized
that evertime he kissed me he's be
kissing Ann. Everytime he held me,
spoke to me, danced with me, drank
with me, played and sang with me it
would be Ann. Ann
(SHOUTED OUT LOUD)
ANN!!! JOE! Listen. I lied. The
phone call - it wasn't the desk
clerk it was Butch. Ann's in
trouble - bad trouble. She's with Butch.
